Experimenting with matting or no matting

Published

I recently had a portfolio review with Emily Schiffer thanks to Photograph Resource Center Boston and she along with others suggested doing my photoziacs without matting.  She offered up the print option of Metal or Wood; as soon as our meeting was over I jumped online knowing my custom print lab offered up metal prints.  I decided to Experiment with my image called Green.  Below you will see side by side comparison of the same size frame but two very different looks as one image are printed on metal and the other is on foam core and matted.

Please leave a comment and tell me which one you like and why?  I love reading your comments about my art!  I’m working on another comparison one in my Infrared series- so stay tuned.

Rainy Lake Calm video

Published

This is the start of my work in progress video for Rainy Lake Calm – photozaic sized small

Story of image:

On the first day of my trip to Rainy Lake, I was heading to a Surf and turf party with other Rainy Lakers.  I was able to explore the island and see what captured my interest.  I could tell that the sunset was going to be great, so I decided to sit on the floating dock and set up the equipment just waiting for the sun to set.

Spring is in the air

Published

Love this time of year as I get to watch the seasons transform right before me!  Rains are washing away what winter left behind; the grass is starting to green, buds on the trees are slowly starting to bloom.  Don’t blink or you may miss it!  Start looking out onto the trees in the distance; do you see the hint of lime green yet?  No, keep watching and you will see it soon and the flowers will follow.

All art is for sale- email me at nmcguirestudio@gmail.com
